About me

My name is Aaron Madhavan, and I am a Jr. Web Developer with Gannett Government Media Corp. I received my training in the TechLEAP program at Montgomery College. In the TechLEAP program I focused on web technologies, ranging from learning the various Adobe Creative Suites 3,4 & 5 programs, front-end programming and server side technologies.

I have always had an affinity for computers, and at work I am the go-to guy for computer problems. On a regular basis I am asked to troubleshoot on a variety of issues from downloading software to fixing printers. In my position at the American Bar Association I began coding HTML e-mails (similar to the emails you get from Amazon); eventually I was able to expand my responsibilities, and I now assist the technology coordinator with updating and designing my section's website.

In fall of 2008 I decided to take a more formal approach to building my technical knowledge, and looked to enroll in a college course.

Through the American Bar Assocation's Individual Development Program (IDP) I was able to take a web development course at Montgomery College, Introduction to website design (CA272).

While at Montgomery College, I heard about TechLEAP, a webmaster certificate program offered at the college.

Upon completion of CA272, I started gathering the necessary materials for admission to TechLEAP, and was accepted into the program several months later, after passing the entrance exam. In September 2008 I started my studies in the TechLEAP program.

In the TechLEAP program I focused on web development (WebLEAP). I was in the program for one year, and studied a broad range of subjects including web applications and the various Visual Studio programming languages.

After completing my studies, I began searching for my first position as a professional web developer. About 9 months after completing school I was given the opportunity to join Gannett Government Media as a Jr. Web Developer. I have been with GGMC for one year now, In this position I have increased my skills through the various porjects that I have worked on.
